After The Fight

For the Deleted Scenes contest at . Since I'm better at felines than equines, but I really wanted to enter this contest, I made my entry about the cougar. I always thought the way they made her look in the film was a bit unfair. Not only did it make her out to be some evil villain out to kill cute baby horses, but she was also made to look weak and cowardly.

I figure, more than likely, she had cubs to take care of. Hunting constantly to keep herself and her cubs fed must have been exhausting. No wonder she was no match for Spirit. So after the fight she returned to the cliff where her cubs hid, waiting for the meal that she couldn't yet bring them.

's reference for the cougar (whom she named Jasiri) was infinitely useful in making this. It's so hard to find good Spirit screenshots, especially of this character. I gave her my own name, though. I call her Suta, which is a Lakota word meaning tough, hard, and strong. Her cubs are as yet unnamed, but for the little one on the right I'm leaning towards Floofy McFloofenstein. ^^
